Lynn Martin, who works cooperatively with AGFD on various projects, is hoping for some volunteers to help get the old JF Ranch headquarters ready for a packer who will soon start packing supplies out of there to make repairs in the path of the Woodbury Fire. Although the old JF cabin was saved, the wildfire damaged some of the surrounding horse pens and fences. Some brush clearing and repairs are needed so the packer has a good place to store materials and work out of.
The rancher needs a couple guys with chainsaws to thin out around the pens; and volunteers to clear that away. There's some old fencing to remove, and some new fencing to be built. The HDPE line, for the horse lot which was lost in the fire, needs to be repaired.
This doesn't sound like a very big job and I expect the work will wrap up around lunchtime. The rancher provides lunch.
Volunteers will gather at 8:00am at the junction of Hewitt Station Road and FS 172. Then the group will convoy (or carpool) about 10 miles to the actual project site.
Directions to meeting spot: Take Hwy 60 towards Superior. At milepost 214, turn north onto Queen Valley Road. Go about 1.75 miles and turn right onto Hewitt Station Road. Go about 3 miles and turn left onto FS 172.
If you have a chainsaw, you may want to bring it.
