This Thursday, June 18th, the annual summer archeology conference is hosting a free “Preservation in Place” conference in lieu of their normal summer convention. While not all the sessions will interest you, there is one in particular that we think could be helpful for those of you who are familiar with the struggles of the various historical preservation acts at the state and federal level. At 1:30, the “Archaeology from the Benches, Not the Trenches” session will feature staff from SHPO, the Arizona State Museum, and Tribal offices to discuss the challenges of working with and among the various preservation acts.
